Applied Behavior
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a particular type of therapy that seeks to increase specific desirable behaviors and decrease undesirable behaviors through research-based behavioral principles.
ABA is geared toward achieving socially important goals, helping the client to be more successful in a natural setting such as homes, schools, and communities. Parents work together with the ABA therapist to establish goals and subsequent plans to meet those goals.
As a small private organization, we are not a provider of BHRS/ Provider 50/ Wrap around services. Instead, our behavior specialist is integrated into our therapy model and works with the therapy team and parents alike to guide treatment plans.
Your child may be referred for ABA therapy if he/she:
- Exhibits behaviors that inhibit safety (running away, self-injurious behaviors)
- Has difficulty acquiring new skills
- Displays behaviors that impair functioning
- Has difficulty communicating
- Struggles to adapt to unfamiliar situations
